The challenge
What the client was up against.
The existing internal road had failed at the gate and weighbridge approach, where loaded trucks stand for extended periods and water pooled every monsoon. The plant could not be closed, and material movement had to continue throughout.
Our approach
What we actually did.
The alignment was surveyed and split into phases, so that one half of the loop was always available to plant traffic. Cement concrete pavement was adopted at the gate and weighbridge approach where standing loads and water made bituminous surfacing a poor choice, with bituminous surfacing on the remaining stretches. Road-side drainage was corrected first so that the new surface drained rather than held water.
Before and after
Drag the divider.
Opening condition on the left, completed work on the right — from the same position, so the comparison is honest.
After
The same stretch rebuilt in cement concrete with corrected drainage and painted kerb.
Before
Failed internal road surface with potholes and standing water at the weighbridge approach before work.
